2026

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences throws an annaul insect-themed festival every year called BugFest, drawing thousands of visitors to downtown Raleigh for bug-themed vendors, information booths, a bug cook-off featuring local restaurants, games, and crafts. This all-day event aims to engage and educate the public about bugs and celebrate their place within the natural world.

Each year NCMNS picks a theme bug for promotion. This year’s theme was central to Hoppers, spotlighting leaf, tree and planthoppers of all varieties, with a poster bug featuring the North Carolina native Red-Banded leafhopper. It’s striking coloration was thought to be a standout against bright green natural backgrounds for the photographic elements of the campaign.

BugFest 2026 was also a standout year, due to the event’s 30th anniversary celebration that would be taking place at the event.

Promotion took place across a wide variety of digital and printed media, including social media graphics, website banner graphics, onsite assets for digital screens, press release graphics, and a membership badge available to members at the event.

The membership VIP badge was available to the first 500 members to arrive at the event, and were displayed at the NCMNS membership table at the event.
