Membership & Donation Cards
Creating scannable membership & donation cards for museum visitors to support NCMNS’s conservation efforts, featuring photography highlighting endangered wildlife native to North Carolina.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences largely relies on the support of its members and donors, and needed a faster and more accessible way for museum guests to support the causes the museum contributes to, especially in conservation and education. These Membership and Donation cards provided a simple solution for museum guests looking to support the Museum without the extra hassle of paperwork, and ease of use for museum store staff to reuse these scannable cards to create less waste, and save time.

Each scannable membership card represents different tier levels available to members, with a photo of endangered animals native to North Carolina displayed to represent these different tier levels. Photography was chosen based on the clairty of the image, distinct features of the animals, and side profiles were utilized for recognition.
The backs of the cards included scannable barcodes and the coverage each tier level has for groups, and the available opportunties each tier has for admission rates, discounts, and access to other opportunities such as events and museum opportunities.
These cards are displayed near the front entrance of the primary museum store, found at the Nature Exploration Center building of the original North Carolina museum of Natural Sciences.
These cards are shown alongside the merchandise featured in NCMNS’s Fragile World Collection, that directly support conservation efforts made by NCMNS, and also featured the animals depicted on the Membership cards.
Donation cards were also created in the same size to allow museum store patrons to make donations in an easy way while being on-site. The cards’s color scheme also matches that of the rest of the Fragile World Collection, by utilizing natural blues, greens, and grays to match the rest of the wall’s emphasis on naturalism and conservation efforts.
These card backs also included a scannable barcode for patrons to bring to the front to be redeemed, and can be reused for future uses.
These cards are displayed in the Fragile World Collection section of the store along with the Membership cards, and are found on a keychain rack alongisde other conservation-themed merchandise.
